Judge Jacqueline Hong-Ngoc Nguyen began her career practicing civil litigation and serving as a federal prosecutor. She was appointed to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in 2002. President Obama later appointed Judge Nguyen to the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She was then appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, making Judge Nguyen the first Asian American woman to serve as a federal appellate judge.
