Mediation is an opportunity before your court hearing to agree to a schedule that works best for parents to share time with the child(ren). This process involves you and the other parent working with a mediator. Please note that your appointment will be by video-conference or telephone. If it is by video-conference, you will receive an invitation with instructions and a link to your online appointment via email.
To meet with a Family Court Services mediator, you must confirm your appointment by submitting Family Court Services
Confidential Mediation Form.
If you are having trouble completing this form, please call the FCS Mediation Office at 213-830-0835.

You also have the opportunity to attempt to create a parenting plan using the Los Angeles Superior Court Online Family Resolution Program. This program provides an opportunity to reach an agreement without the assistance of a mediator. If you complete the process and resolve ALL child custody and visitation issues using this online tool, you do not have to participate in a Family Court Services mediation appointment. If you are unable to reach an agreement or only reach a partial agreement, mediation is still mandatory.
