Justice Kathryn Doi Todd was a founding member of the Japanese American Bar Association who spent her early law career serving the Japanese American community in Los Angeles. In 1978, Todd became the first Asian American woman appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court. She was elevated to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County bench in 1981 and served on the California Court of Appeal until her retirement.
