Justice Carlos Roberto Moreno began his law career in 1975, serving as the deputy city attorney for Los Angeles. He was appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court in 1986 and was elevated to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in 1993. In 1998, the Senate unanimously confirmed his appointment to the United States District Court for the Central District of California. In 2001, Governor Gray Davis nominated Justice Moreno to the California Supreme Court. After leaving the Supreme Court in 2011, Justice Moreno served as the U.S. Ambassador to Belize from 2014 to 2017.
