First woman assistant presiding judge and presiding judge in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County

Justice Lee Smalley Edmon served as a judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court from 2000 to 2015, making history as the court's first female presiding judge from 2011 to 2012. In 2014, Governor Jerry Brown appointed her to the California Courts of Appeal. She is currently serving there as the presiding justice, until her term expires in January of 2027.
